Late July already, where has 2023 gone? We’re over half way through the year. July has been an interesting month. I injured my hand on the job in late June, so all of July has been light duty door greeting at work. You wouldn’t believe people.

One elderly lady asked me if I had a gun. Startled, I asked, “No wait what?” She proceeded to let me know that the security at Trader Joes has a gun. I politely explained that I was not in fact security just a door greeter welcoming people in. Due to the injury, I haven’t been able to write a lot at all.

We did get away for a midweek mini holiday at the beach. I was able to put my feet in the ocean. I’ll link the TikTok below so you can see. It was a gorgeous day; hot, yet windy and cool due to the ocean spray.

I was lucky enough to find a patch of goldenrod today, of which I harvested a bit. It is now drying. I did some research and I’m thinking about how I’ll use it.

I’m reading Tessa Bailey right now. It happened One Summer is set in Westport Washington.  I too live in Washington state and couldn’t resist that. I’m in my romance era, which sounds weird. I was reading fantasy and then I fell into Abby Jimenez. Between her, Emily Henry, and Tessa Bailey, it’s been a fun romcom summer. What are you reading?

I’m also frustrated. I had a supernatural witchy series I was reading on Google Play, and in love with. Last fall the author put all her books on Kindle Unlimited. I refuse to buy books from Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. It’s small, but it’s my hill to die on. I buy at small bookshops, B&N, and Google Books.

Well then in February, she announced, they were coming back off KU and back to Google Play. I was so excited. I waited with bated breath, and nothing. At the beginning of July, I reached out to see when they would be back. (Here is my frustration.) I just heard back. Due to not making enough money, she’s putting them all back on KU. This is why I hate kindle unlimited.

I’m just now getting back to writing, and it feels nice. I’m still planning on having my current WIP done by the end of the year. It’s not by any means a romcom. I don’t want to give much away yet. Well, I should tie up here. I figure you’ve gotten enough updates and raving rants. Love you all much! Gratitude fills my heart knowing you are reading this. Comments are golden and welcome. Below is the link to my TikTok.

Hi Darlings, (waving)

So here it is. I hear all of you. “Where have you been?” Busy…Busy…Busy. I work part time still, and I’m still writing. I’m closer now than I’ve ever been. I still write fan-fiction as well, when I’m inspired. It’s been a weird couple of years, hasn’t it? The last year or two, I’ve gone back to reading a lot as well. Yes, sticking your head in books makes the world a little more palatable. I read daily.

I have so much on my plate, that I don’t want to drag on here. I want this to still be related to my writing. The witchiness, the neurodivergence are more on my ticktock. Yes, I’m there now as well as Tumblr for the fan-fiction. Man, I’m a busy bitch huh? Okay enough of an update. Ask questions, Goddess please. I’m not even sure if people will read this, but my Facebook post asking got good input. Do people read blogs? So here goes, I solemnly promise to try and update as much as possible, about my writing. I’m gonna try for every two weeks. I’m committed, because it’ll give me an outlet. I haven’t found a good writing buddy to keep accountable too. So you and you and you and you are gonna hold me to this. 😉

I’m working on a novel now. One thing you should know, going in, is I’ve discovered my deeper theme. I’m not telling you what it is because then you’ll want to read my books, to see. It’s why I love the crazy things I do. I’ll see you again shortly. I love you all. 😘

So as you all know I was nominated by the lovely and talented Sarah Foster over at the Faux Fountain Pen for a Liebster Award. So here it is…

The Rules

I absolutely love Sailor Moon.
My music tastes are eclectic.

The 11 questions given to me…

If you could dress up as anyone/anything for Halloween, what would it be? I just did, and I was one hot witch. Lol ;)

If you could only write one genre of books for the rest of your life, what would it be? Paranormal Romance with other elements.

Where were you when you were struck with the idea for your current WIP? Did something trigger the idea or did you pull it out of thin air? I was at the Oregon coast.

Who is your celebrity crush? Hmmm this one is complicated, 1.) Neil Gaiman 2.) Wil Wheaton 3.) Chris Hemsworth 4.) Pharrell Williams 5.) Adam Levine. Top five, yeah I can’t decide either.

What literary character would you want to be best friends with? BONUS: Which one of YOUR characters would you want to be best friends with? Describe him or her. The Marquis De Cabaras, from Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere. I figure this gentleman would have some fascinating stories worth sharing.

You have to pull off a huge heist (such as robbing a casino like in Ocean's Eleven). Who do you want on your team? You can pick people you know, celebrities, or any fictional characters (but no magical powers!). Neil Gaiman, Hermione Grainger, Albus Dumbledore, and last but not least my someone special. If you can’t figure out the reason for my choices, we’re lost. It’s not magic obviously.

What is your least favorite household chore? Changing my sheets, I have a California king size waterbed with just a pillow top mattress.

Has there ever been a book/movie/TV show that made you sob uncontrollably? Several but two memorable ones The Last Unicorn movie, because I could really feel her pain at the end. Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince, The book – Dumbledore’s death wrecked me, because he is like the greatest wizard like ever, hands down. I thought for a bit it was faked on purpose. :s

Has one of your favorite books ever been made into a movie and you hated it? If not, did you love it? Why? Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban – I thought they did a fairly good job. This is my favorite of the Harry Potter books.

How do you take your coffee? Do you like flavored coffee? (Or what is your favorite tea if you’re a tea person?) I only drink flavored coffees and my rule is one a day. A Caramelizer from Dutch Brothers is my weakness.

What would your demise be that gets you kicked out of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory? (You can pick one from the book/movies or come up with your own!) The bubbly floating soda. I always wanted to drink some too.

And finally the 11 Questions for my nominees

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Which of your characters do you relate to the most and why?

If you had to pick an Avenger to save the world which one? Justify?

What does the Fox say? I need answers… ;)

What is your favorite Book or Movie or both?

Pantser or Planner?

How do you combat writers block?

What is your favorite writing beverage?

Have you ever attempted NaNoWriMo and if so were you successful?

Do you have a writing routine?

What music do you write to, if you do? If not what background sounds fill your writing mood?

I know, I know, I missed a week, trust me it doesn't sit well with me either. Plus the week prior I was late. But I'm going to explain. Three weeks back, my younger son began driving school. My youngest daughter started softball at the beginning of April, and my oldest son graduates from high school next Saturday.

So the last few weeks have been super busy. I put six hundred miles on my car all in local running. This go...go...go has affected me. I am sorry for being absent.  Although, I have had the opportunity to get some reading done while waiting.

I have finished "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green. I originally bought it for my daughter to read prior to the movie coming out. After she finished it, I read it. I highly recommend this book.

Just before that I finished a book titled, Tell the Wolves I'm Home, by Carol Rifka Brunt. This one was interesting. The first half was slow, but the second half was pretty amazing. Plus I have just started, I Am Not Myself These Days, Josh Kilmer Purcell, which came highly recommended.

So I am still here, still plugging away just crazy busy. School is out shortly and with that all the busy ends. So just know that soon, I'll be back regularly to bug all of you. Yay me.... ;)

Life or Something Like It
