Last Friday I finally heard my Professor explain the definition of Sentimentality. I now have a more definite understanding of what he meant. It happened we were looking at art. I meant to type this up over the weekend, but life comes at you fast, and I am just now getting to it. Apologies...
So here goes, let's see if I can do it justice.
Sentimentality is basically a lack of depth, that requires no thought. The subject may tug at your heartstrings, leave you sighing, but it doesn't make you think. This is somewhat important, because along with tugging at your heartstrings, I hope to make you think. Let's hope I can achieve that. ;)
So now that I have a more concise understanding, what do you think?
