The Write Life

Seducing hearts, one story at a time, Author - Crystal R. Martin

    Hello all,

It’s been a few weeks. Mercury went into Retrograde, and I really didn’t  know what to say. Now we’re in a new year and Mercury just went direct again. Welcome 2024! First let’s talk about the holidays. A wonderful holiday, the best in the past few years. I worked up through Christmas Adam, had Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off. Can you believe, I did most of my shopping on Christmas Eve? True story.  My older son needed to get down to Tualatin Oregon to buy a chameleon gecko. So we did that and then went shopping.

My significant other did very well. He always claims he’s not a good gift-giver, but wow. He had me in tears. The best part is he made me gnomes out of metal and fabric and yarn. The best part? They look like us. He put eggs n bacon in his beard, and gave me long red braids. I’m wearing a witchy outfit, and he’s holding a wrench. Talk about AMAZING! I love it! It seriously rivaled the wooden moon he made me last year. He also bought me some Sailor Moon stuff and perfume and oracle cards. I felt so seen and loved. And he got me a B&N gift card. :D

I enjoyed Christmas dinner with all my kids and grands, what a precious treat. I’m serious, you don’t even know how much gratitude and joy I had for all of us being together. It made my Christmas completely joyful! My oldest cooked dinner, I provided dessert, and fun was had by all.

It was great, my son and I went to Barnes & Noble for their big day after Christmas sale. I came away with five plus books. I was right back to work, but that’s okay. Also, my younger son and I saw the new Miyazaki movie The Boy and the Heron, in the theater. I highly recommend it. I can’t say enough good things about Studio Ghibli.

I worked New Years Eve until ten fifteen and then came home. My significant other worked early new years day, so he was asleep. I stayed up because I love the moment the new year slips in. Each year feels different, right? This year I seriously had goose bumps and chills up my spine. It wasn’t in a frightening way either, more in an exciting way. Think of vibrant energy. There has been a lot of changes in the last few months. I moved and I changed jobs within the same company. It’s a lot to take in, but I’m managing.

I’ve also figured out this year’s word is going to be focus. Things are so crazy, that I’m going to have to learn to focus my attention on the important things, and let the other stuff go. With a bit of planning that shouldn’t be too hard. I’ll have time to write, time to spend with those close to me working around my schedule. It’s weird because I now work like from four until eleven fifteen each evening. And boy is it an eye opener. Enough of an update. I’m still here, still writing.  Now that Mercury is direct, I’ll be back to regular updates.

Happy New Years, Love you all!
