The Write Life

Seducing hearts, one story at a time, Author - Crystal R. Martin

Time to open up again. You all know I’ve been missing in action on the blog front. Not so much on the video making front. Let’s step back, and I’ll bring you forward with me. In early 2018 my world was once again rocked. I lost my father, rather suddenly and unexpectedly. The whole year, outside the month I went to Colorado was spent dealing with that mess.

I won’t share the gory details, because that kind of drama is on T.V. so much that if I tried to explain you would think I was using an episode of Shameless. By 2019 most of that dust settle and real life continued. I have done some cool things, remember that month in Colorado, I was house sitting. I also experienced Las Vegas, in an epic trip. Except I got really sick. Who goes to Vegas and gets sick? I do apparently.

As of October 2019, I also gained a second granddaughter. Paisley has an adorable baby sister named Presley. Paisley is now sneaking up on three. Has it been that long? Yes, it has. I spent time in 2019 writing, but rather than fresh words, I edited nearly two hundred thousand words. Lots of work, but worthy. Now I am working on something new and a fanfiction. Yes, I still write fanfiction as well as original fiction.

Now that we are mostly current. I can tell you another interesting part. The universe gifted me with this gem. At the end of February, I flew to Chicago, bought a car for five dollars. We spent three days in Chicago sightseeing, before driving home. We drove through Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. We arrived home one week later on Saturday.

It was the most epic road trip you can imagine. I want to leave you with one of my favorite pictures. It is from the 96th floor of the Hancock Building in a lounge called The Signature Room. Their ladies’ restroom has a wall that is window, looking out over Chicago.
