The Write Life

Seducing hearts, one story at a time, Author - Crystal R. Martin

Hi Darlings, It’s been three weeks. I am finally moved and mostly settled in. What a process. Here we are, and it is mid-October already. This year the veil feels extremely thin. Spooky season is extra spooky. I’m not sure what is happening, but I feel the other side like never before.

I was at work recently, and want to share an experience. There was an old man that I’d never seen before, but brought my dad to mind. The body movements, the thin face, the short beard, were quite similar. Mr. Look-alike goes on his way, and I’m left thinking about my dad. About this time a different man is exiting the store, and I say, “Have a nice day.” Per usual. This gentleman turns around and says, “Thanks guys” and kind of waves. As I’m standing alone, I am utterly confused. I looked around behind me and there is no one.

Now maybe it’s just me, but a pluralization like that from thank you to thank you guys is not a normal misstep. I was beyond startled. The hair on my arms stood straight up, and it was strange. I’ve seen lots of things, but this was a whole new level of eerie.

As of the writing of this, I am no longer the door greeter on light duty. It was sweet and sad, the last day I was. I kind of had a feeling it would be my last day doing that. Not that it was great, but I met lots of regular customers, and saw lots of people I haven’t seen in ages. The connection with people is the part I will miss.

I am trying to write. It hasn’t been as successful as I’d like. There have been a number of things demanding my time and attention. I am now about to start laying stronger boundaries around that time, and protecting it. Okay enough boring rambling. I just wanted you to know I am still moving forward. Love you all.
